In April of 1970, John Lutz and a team began working to register the Firm in the country. In November, they started working on an engagement for the sugar industry.

The Mexico Office now has 40 consultants, including eight people on loan from offices in the US and Europe.

All offices are treated as a single entity and English became the official language.

Written by Tom Peters and Bob Waterman becomes one of the most successful business books in history, staying in The New York Times best-seller for 59 consecutive weeks.

Alexis Falquier is appointed Managing Partner for Mexico
He would bring the Mexico Office into the some of its best years.

Bernard Minkow is elected Senior Partner
Joined the Mexico Office after receiving an MBA from the Harvard Business School, one of the most influential and renowned leaders within the office.
1985
Mexico Earthquake
The Mexico Office partners set up a major contributory program for the reconstruction effort, and Alexis Falquier became a board member of the Mexican Earthquake Reconstruction Task Force.
1990
During this decade McKinsey boosts the modernization of the energy sector,
and helped to revitalize fundamental Mexican industries, helped the government structure to improve service quality and increase competition for pilar sectors.
Alumni Network Excels
Alumni become increasingly prominent in business and politics. Harvey Golub leads American Express, Helmut Panke CEO of BMW, Sheryl Sandberg chief operating officer of Facebook.

During his time as a Managing Partner the Mexico office grew and reached 100 consultants, accelerated women development and connected Mexico much more proactively, promoting exchange of consultants to the rest of the world, mainly USA, LatAm and Europe.

The Gates Foundation & McKinsey work with Diconsa, a state-owned institution, distributing food and basic products to rural communities and designing a model for financial inclusion.
